In penetrating the Citrus market, PICO selected to be the exclusive producer of X639 and Folk Mariana seedlings.

X639

PICO is the exclusive producer of X639 Hybrid, which is a hybrid of Trifoliate Orange and Cleopatra Tangerine. The X639 Hybrid tree has proven tremendous results with regard to the fruit specification smooth texture, limited skin thickness, fruit size juice percentage and high harvest quantities.

Benefits:

X639 Hybrid Origin interacts positively with Valencia oranges, Navel Oranges, Tangerines and Grapefruit

Suitable for soils in elevated PH and limning rates

Resistant to Tristeza virus and has special properties for improving the productivity of navel oranges

Folka Mariana

The Folka Mariana origin is close in characteristics to the rough lemon origin particularly the tree growth, growth vigor and the morphological properties, hence making it part of the Lemon Origin Family.

The Folka Mariana/Lemon origin overcomes the quality issues experienced in trees hybridized with grapefruits, valencia oranges and navel oranges which behave normally during the first 10 years in the orchid, then experience deterioration in fruit quality with respect to skin thickness, juice quantity and percentage sweet to sour in addition to the trees’ sensitivity to the Tristeza virus. Trees hybridized with Folka Mariana origin are less sensitive to coldness, and phytophthora disease (Rotten Roots).

To further prevent diseases and infections in plantations, special green houses have been built and provided with special kits ( stone greenhouse and log greenhouse) to guarantee virus free varieties
